It is easy to get a great photo of the kitchen but the kid’s bedroom is going to be more difficult since the room looks like it has not been redecorated since 1983. Instead of just dumping in a shot of the room in its current state I could use a close up of an image that shows what the bedroom could be. This is the best time to introduce the concept of stock photography. Stock photos are images that are taken by professional photographers and then sold online. I choose a picture of a teddy bear on a bedspread for the children’s bedroom. The image only cost two dollars at bigstockphoto.com.

The Children’s bedroom is represented by the Teddy Bear Image rather than a photo of the room.
Advertisers understand that they are selling an emotion, not s a product. Stock photography mixed with the photos that you shoot yourself can create a beautiful presentation that really sells the feeling.
Don’t Forget to Sell the Community
Home buyers want to feel that they are buying more than a house. They are also buying into a neighborhood. The community can add a lot to the emotional appeal of a home. Almost every city or suburb has some wonderful natural features that can provide great photos for your virtual tour. City parks, bodies of water and historical sites are both photogenic and great selling points for a home.
My neighborhood in Seattle is an average middle class neighborhood and the home is several blocks from a park overlooking Puget Sound. Residents from the east coast or out of state cite the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest as one of their main reasons for relocating. I feel like my presentation would not be complete without at least one photo of the area. Again I go back to the stock archive to find a professional image.
