A Home Deep in the Heart of Texas

Centrally located to both the east and west coasts of the United States, Dallas is a hub of business activity.  Often referred to with its sister city Fort Worth (DFW), Dallas is home to 1.3 million people.  Nearly six million (5.7) call the region as a whole (Dallas / Fort Worth) home. 

Given its central location, most areas of the country are les than a four hour flight away.  In addition, being located in the central time zone makes it an easy region with which to conduct business.  Economically speaking, DFW is the headquarters for many big businesses.  In fact the region ranks third in the nation for revenue generated from Fortune 500 companies. Some of these businesses include:

Dallas / Fort Worth has shown significant economic growth in the past decade.  It was ranked first in the nation for job growth in the 1990’s and still continues at a brisk pace.  Business 2.0 Magazine ranked the area in the top 10 hot cities for job growth in their May 2006 issue.  In addition the Milken Institute gave it the honor of one of the “Best Performing Cities:  Where America’s Jobs are Created and Sustained.”

The area is culturally diverse and is ranked as one of the top five cities for Hispanic and African Americans according to Hispanic Magazine and Black Enterprise Magazine.   It is also a female friendly city.  The Center for Women’s Business Research estimated that privately owned female (50 percent or more) firms increased by 18 percent between 1997 and 2004.

Dallas enjoys a mild climate year round.  The average daily low is 55 degrees, while the high is 76.  DFW also has a thriving arts and cultural center with two major art districts.  The Dallas Arts District is known for the Dallas Museum of Art and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, while the Fort Worth Cultural District has several museums.  It also has diverse offerings for sports enthusiast with five professional sports teams – The Dallas Cowboys (NFL), Mavericks (NBA), Rangers (MLB), Stars (NHL) and Dallas Soccer.

The region’s students are served by 205 school districts and a total of 1,800 schools.  Total enrollment for the year 2005 was over one million.  Of these schools 130 were recognized as exemplary campuses by the Texas Education Agency.  An additional 300 were acknowledged for academic performance.

According to the ACCRA cost of living index, the DFW area is one of the least expensive metro markets in the nation.  The median home price for the area is $207,253. The region has many unique communities and neighborhoods which are home to approximately 400 parks, over 60 lakes and roughly 150 public and private golf courses. 
Marketing area homes comes in a variety of formats.  The DFW area has several print medium outlets, including the weekly Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star Telegram.  In addition, there are an assortment of weekly publications that serve smaller populations in the DFW metro areas. Another option for marketing services as well as property listings is one of the Dallas area magazine publications – D Magazine, D Home Magazine and Texas Monthly.  In addition, the Dallas / Fort Worth and surrounding area chambers of commerce offer membership listings, while regional MLS provides property listings.
