Yahoo Real Estate

Yahoo classifieds offers a simple approach to real estate listings.  It provides mapping of homes as well as several search capabilities, including city, state, zip, MLS listings, pricing, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, foreclosures and new homes. 

Advertising placed on Yahoo runs for 21 days and costs $49.95 per listing.  The sign-up process is quite easy with several pull down menus for selection of listing categories.  In addition, you are able to upload photographs of the home.  Listing on the service does require a Yahoo Account (free).  The site accepts home listings from throughout the US, however it currently cannot accept advertising Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Ft Worth, Fresno, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Monterey/Santa Cruz, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle or Washington D.C.

MSN.com

MSN.com supplies new homebuyers a link to Realtor.com to search for homes.  It does not provide agents the ability to create a classified listing, however it does offer display advertising for purchase including the ability to run ads in the buy, sell and rent sections of the site as well as a variety of sponsorship opportunities.  Ads are billed on a pay per click method  (advertisers bid on how much they will pay each time an ad is clicked on).  There is also a one time set up fee.

According to MSN’s marketing literature, over 3.5 million users visit the real estate/apartment rental site every month.  Nearly three-quarters of those users (72%) are in the 25-54 age bracket, while 24 percent earn from $50,000 to $74,999 per year.  Eighty-one percent of all MSN visitors have purchased something online in the past month.
